The free presence check

Marketli offers a free local presence check at marketli.app/presence-check. Anyone can run one for their business, with no account: it grades a website's health and a Google Business Profile side by side, and shows how the business's reviews compare with the leading businesses nearby.

What it checks

Your website. We crawl up to 50 pages and grade the site's technical health: page titles and descriptions, headings, broken links, HTTPS, sitemaps and more. You get a score out of 100 and a plain-English list of the biggest issues we found.

Your Google Business Profile. Pick your business on Google and we grade the profile itself: whether it has a website, phone number, opening hours, category, photos, a healthy star rating and enough reviews. We also look at businesses in the same category near you and show how your review count compares with the leader's.

Your Google Maps rank. A few minutes after the Google grade, we search Google Maps for your business's own category (for example "Finance broker") at five points around your location: your address and roughly 2.5 kilometres north, south, east and west. The results page shows where you appear at each point, your best position, and the three businesses customers see first. Not being in the top 20 is a real result and is shown as one.

Replies to reviews. From your 20 most recent Google reviews we count how many have an owner reply, how many reviews of 3 stars or fewer have gone unanswered, and how quickly you usually reply. This part is checked while we have capacity for it; when it is not, the page says so rather than showing nothing.

If a business only enters a website address, the check runs on the website alone and skips the Google half.

How it runs

1. Find your business on Google, or enter your website address.
2. Leave your email and confirm you are human.
3. The Google Business grade appears straight away. The website crawl takes longer, sometimes an hour or more when the crawler is busy, so we email a link to the results page the moment everything is ready.

Results pages have an unguessable address and are kept out of search engines. One check per business runs per fortnight: asking again within that window shows the same results rather than starting a new crawl.

What happens with the results

The results page offers a free call with the Marketli team to walk through what the check found, including what a professionally built website would look like. That call is the same intro call every "Book a call" button on the site leads to. We may also follow up by email about the results, as the form explains.
