    Unlocking your property journey

    Converting a lead

Turn a qualified lead into a client record, and optionally spin up the deal workspace at the same time.

Converting is how a lead stops being an enquiry and becomes someone you are actually working with. It can create a client record, a workspace, or both.

    Doing it

    1. Open the lead, or use the kebab menu on its row.
    2. Choose Mark converted.
    3. The Convert {name} dialog opens. Pick one of three modes.
    4. Optionally turn on Create a workspace.
    5. Click Convert.

    The three modes

New client — creates a brand new client from the lead's details, pre-filled into Name, Email and Phone. This option needs an email address, so it is unavailable on a lead that has none.

Existing — search your clients and link the lead to a contact you already have. Use this when the enquiry came from someone already on your books.

No link — marks the lead converted without attaching it to anyone. Useful when the deal is real but the client record lives elsewhere.

Creating the workspace at the same time

Switch on Create a workspace and you get two more fields:

    • Deal typePurchase or Refinance. Refinance only appears for mortgage brokers.
    • Workspace name — defaults to something like Jane's purchase workspace, and you can change it.

Marketli then resolves or creates the client and builds the workspace in one step. You can also do this later from the client record instead.

Converting does not invite the client to Marketli. Nobody is emailed or texted by this action. Sending the invite is a separate step from inside the workspace — see Creating a workspace.

    Undoing it

Open the lead and choose Revert to qualified. That clears the link to the client and puts the lead back in the Qualified column. It does not delete the client or the workspace that was created — remove those separately if you need to.

    If it will not convert

A few errors have specific causes:

    MessageWhat to do
Set up your company first to create a workspace.Finish company setup on the Company page.
Start your trial to create client workspaces.Add a card and start the trial.
Could not create the client.Usually a duplicate email — check whether they already exist and use Existing instead.
