Connect your own domain – Marketli Help

If you already own a domain, you can serve your Marketli-built website on it. You do not need to move your domain to Marketli or change who it is registered with. There are two ways to point it here, and the panel offers both:

Bring your existing DNS across (recommended): Marketli reads the DNS records your domain answers today, copies them into a zone it hosts for you, you review the list, and then you switch the domain to Marketli's nameservers at your registrar. One change at the registrar, and Marketli manages the website records from then on.
Keep your current DNS provider: add a couple of records at whoever manages your DNS now, and Marketli watches for them. Your email and other records stay exactly where they are.

You will find this on the Website page, under DNS, and inside Launch in the editor. Only company owners and admins can connect or disconnect a domain.

Connecting a domain

Open the Editor and find the Your domain panel, or press Launch and go to the domain step.
Type the domain you want to use, for example yourbusiness.com, and press Connect. Typing it with or without www makes no difference: Marketli connects both, and sends anyone who types the www version to your main domain. (This applies to a main domain such as yourbusiness.com or yourbusiness.com.au; any other subdomain connects on its own.)
If the domain is registered somewhere other than Marketli, prove you own it first: add the one-off TXT record shown (a name starting with _vercel.) at your current DNS provider, then press Check status. Once it is seen, ownership is confirmed.
Choose how to point the domain here: Import existing DNS to bring your DNS across, or open Keep my current DNS provider instead for the records to add.
Come back to the panel. It checks automatically while the tab is open, and there is a Check status button if you would rather not wait. When the checks pass, the domain flips to Live.

DNS changes usually take a few minutes to propagate, but can take up to 24 to 48 hours for a nameserver change.

Bringing your existing DNS across

DNS records connect your domain to your website, your email and other services. Moving nameservers moves responsibility for all of those records, so Marketli prepares a complete copy before you switch.

Find the login for your domain registrar and for your current DNS provider. They may be different companies. Export the full DNS zone, or save a complete record list and your existing nameservers, as a backup.
Press Import existing DNS. Marketli scans the common record names, saves what it finds, and copies the records into your new Marketli-hosted zone. Keep the panel open; it takes a few seconds.
Compare the copied list with your provider's full list. Add anything missing with the Add record form (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX and TXT). Remove anything you no longer need. The website records for your main domain and www are managed for you and cannot be changed.
If any records are shown as saved but not copied, press Retry copying records. Do not switch nameservers while records are waiting.
Tick the review confirmation. It applies to the list as it is now, and resets if the list changes.
Marketli then shows the two nameservers. At your registrar, open the domain's nameserver settings (often called DNS servers or custom nameservers), replace the whole list with those two entries, and save. If DNSSEC is switched on for the domain, ask your registrar to switch it off and confirm the old DS record has cleared before you change nameservers.
Return to the panel and press Check status. When Marketli sees its nameservers on your domain and the site answers, the domain flips to Live.

What to check before you switch

Email: MX records, the SPF TXT record, every DKIM selector, DMARC, autodiscover and any mail-related subdomains.
Other services: verification TXT records, subdomains, SRV records, delegated subdomains and wildcard records.
Website: your main domain and www are handled by Marketli. Other subdomains still need their own records.

A scan cannot discover every record, and it cannot guarantee your email keeps working. Custom DKIM selectors and unusual subdomains can be missed, and zero discovered records does not prove your old zone is empty. The comparison with your provider's full list is what protects you.

After the switch, open both your main domain and www over HTTPS, send and receive an email from your usual mailbox, and submit a test enquiry before closing your old hosting account. If something relying on DNS stops, add the missing record in the panel; it takes effect within minutes. Disconnecting the domain later does not delete your hosted zone.

Keeping your current DNS provider

Use this if you would rather not change nameservers, or your registrar requires you to use its own. Open Keep my current DNS provider instead for the records.

Your main domain and its www version are two names in DNS, so you add two records. Both are shown in the panel.

Your main domain (for example yourbusiness.com): add an A record on the root (often shown as @) pointing to 216.150.1.1. If your registrar already has the older value 76.76.21.21, that still works.
The www version (www.yourbusiness.com): add a CNAME record on the name www pointing to cname.vercel-dns.com.
Any other subdomain you connect on its own (for example portal.yourbusiness.com): a CNAME record on that name pointing to cname.vercel-dns.com.

If your registrar already has records with those names pointing at your old website, replace them rather than adding a second one.

The one-off TXT record (a name starting with _vercel.) proves you own the domain. Once it is seen, ownership is confirmed and it is no longer needed.

The www version is included automatically, so you do not need to connect it separately. Connect another domain is for a genuinely different address, such as a second domain you own or a subdomain like portal.yourbusiness.com.

Before you switch a domain that is already live

If the domain you are connecting already shows a website somewhere else, please read this first.

Changing the record moves your visitors to your Marketli site the moment the change propagates. There is usually a short gap during the switch while DNS updates around the world and the secure padlock (the HTTPS certificate) is issued for the new site. For most small sites this is minutes, not hours, but it is a real change to a live address, so pick a quiet time.

Change both records together so the www and non-www versions switch at the same time; if only one is changed, visitors typing the other still see the old site. The secure padlock

Once your domain is live, the HTTPS certificate that shows the padlock in the browser is issued automatically. It is usually ready within a few minutes of the domain going live. If you check very early you may briefly see a certificate warning; it clears on its own.

Disconnecting a domain

Use Disconnect next to the domain to stop serving your site on it. Disconnecting your main domain also disconnects its www version. Your website itself is not affected in any way. If your DNS records still point at Marketli after you disconnect, visitors to that domain will see an error until you either point the domain somewhere else at your registrar or reconnect it here.

What this does not cover yet

This connects a domain you already own. Buying a brand new domain through Marketli is separate; ask your Marketli contact if you need it.
