    Connect your own domain

    Point a domain you already own at your Marketli-built website: the records to add at your registrar, how the go-live works, and the one thing to know before you switch a domain that is already in use.

    If you already own a domain, you can serve your Marketli-built website on it. You add a couple of DNS records at whoever you bought the domain from, Marketli watches for them, and your site goes live on your own address. You do not need to move your domain to Marketli or change who it is registered with.

    You will find this in the Editor, in the Your domain panel. Only company owners and admins can connect or disconnect a domain.

    Connecting a domain

    1. Open the Editor and find the Your domain panel.
    2. Type the domain you want to use, for example yourbusiness.com, and press Connect. Typing it with or without www makes no difference: Marketli connects both, and sends anyone who types the www version to your main domain. (This applies to a main domain such as yourbusiness.com or yourbusiness.com.au; any other subdomain connects on its own.)
    3. Marketli shows you the exact DNS records to add, one for your main domain and one for www. Copy each value with the button next to it.
    4. Sign in wherever your domain is registered (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Crazy Domains, Cloudflare and so on) and add those records in its DNS settings.
    5. Come back to the panel. It checks automatically while the tab is open, and there is a Check status button if you would rather not wait. When both checks pass, the domain flips to Live.

    DNS changes usually take a few minutes to propagate, but can take up to a few hours depending on your registrar.

    The records you add

    Your main domain and its www version are two names in DNS, so you add two records. Both are shown in the panel.

    • Your main domain (for example yourbusiness.com): add an A record on the root (often shown as @) pointing to 216.150.1.1. If your registrar already has the older value 76.76.21.21, that still works.
    • The www version (www.yourbusiness.com): add a CNAME record on the name www pointing to cname.vercel-dns.com.
    • Any other subdomain you connect on its own (for example portal.yourbusiness.com): a CNAME record on that name pointing to cname.vercel-dns.com.

    If your registrar already has records with those names pointing at your old website, replace them rather than adding a second one.

    If the domain is registered somewhere other than Marketli, you will also see a one-off TXT record (a name starting with _vercel.). That record proves you own the domain. Add it alongside the record above, and once it is seen, ownership is confirmed and it is no longer needed.

    The www version is included automatically, so you do not need to connect it separately. Connect another domain is for a genuinely different address, such as a second domain you own or a subdomain like portal.yourbusiness.com.

    Before you switch a domain that is already live

    If the domain you are connecting already shows a website somewhere else, please read this first.

    Changing the record moves your visitors to your Marketli site the moment the change propagates. There is usually a short gap during the switch while DNS updates around the world and the secure padlock (the HTTPS certificate) is issued for the new site. For most small sites this is minutes, not hours, but it is a real change to a live address, so pick a quiet time.

    Change both records together so the www and non-www versions switch at the same time; if only one is changed, visitors typing the other still see the old site. If you would like to check the site before switching, its Marketli preview address shows exactly what will go live.     The secure padlock

    Once your domain is live, the HTTPS certificate that shows the padlock in the browser is issued automatically. It is usually ready within a few minutes of the domain going live. If you check very early you may briefly see a certificate warning; it clears on its own.

    Disconnecting a domain

    Use Disconnect next to the domain to stop serving your site on it. Disconnecting your main domain also disconnects its www version. Your website itself is not affected in any way. If your DNS records still point at Marketli after you disconnect, visitors to that domain will see an error until you either point the domain somewhere else at your registrar or reconnect it here.

    What this does not cover yet

    This connects a domain you already own. Buying a brand new domain through Marketli, and moving your email (MX) records, are separate; ask your Marketli contact if you need either.
