Recommendations
Record the businesses you refer clients to, see them on your clients' Refer tab, and understand what happens when one of those businesses joins Marketli.
Every broker has a short list of people they trust: a conveyancer, a building inspector, an accountant, a sparky who actually turns up. The Recommendations tab on your Network page is where that list lives, so your clients get it from you instead of from a search engine.
Adding a business
Open Network from the menu and pick the Recommendations tab, then choose Add.
You enter the industry, the business name, the person you deal with there, and at least one way to reach them: a phone number, an email address or a website. There is no limit, and you can add businesses across every industry Marketli covers, not just the ones in the public directory.
As you type a website or an email address we check whether that business is already on Marketli. If it is, the sheet says so before you save, and your recommendation links to their existing profile rather than creating a second copy of them.
Only company admins can add, edit or remove recommendations. Everyone else at your company can see the list.
Editing changes the contact details you entered. Remove takes a business off the list for your clients. It is not a deletion: referrals that were already sent stay in your records, and adding the same business again later picks up where you left off.
What your clients see
Once the client side is released, your clients see your recommendations on the Refer tab of their app, grouped under your company name, so it is clear the endorsement came from you.
Each card will show the business, the person to ask for, and buttons to call, email or open their website. Every time a client uses one of those buttons we record it, and the referral count on your card in the Recommendations tab goes up. That is how you see which of your recommendations people actually act on.
Recommendations are private to your clients. A business you add does not appear in the public Marketli directory, in directory search, or on any public page. The only people who ever see it are the clients you are connected to.
When a recommended business joins Marketli
A business you recommend that is not on Marketli yet gets a placeholder we call a listing, marked Unclaimed on your card. The contact details on it are the ones you entered, and they are only ever shown to your own clients.
If that business later joins Marketli and takes the listing over, your recommendation moves across to their real profile and the card changes to On Marketli. From then on your clients see the details that business maintains itself: their own phone number, email and website, kept up to date by them rather than by you. The person you named stays on the card as your contact there, so clients still know who to ask for.
Nothing about your list changes when this happens. You do not need to re-add anyone, your referral history stays intact, and the business still appears under your company name.
Claiming is done by the Marketli team. A business cannot take a listing over by itself yet, on purpose: matching on an email address or a website address alone is not proof that someone speaks for that business, and getting it wrong would hand your recommendations to the wrong company. We will open it up once we can properly verify that a business owns the domain it is claiming. Until then, if a business you recommend has joined Marketli and their card still says Unclaimed, get in touch and we will connect the two.
