Google reviews on your website
Show your Google rating and up to five of your Google reviews on your Marketli-built website, straight from Google, with nothing to copy and paste.
Your Marketli-built website can show your Google rating and some of your Google reviews, pulled live from your Google Business Profile. You switch it on once, in Marketli, and the reviews on your site keep up with Google on their own. Nobody has to copy a review into your website by hand again.
You will find it in the Editor, on the Google reviews button at the top of the screen. Anyone in your company can see the settings. Only owners and admins can change them.
Switching it on
- Open the Google reviews panel.
- Read the listing shown under Your linked Google listing. It is the business name and address Google holds for the listing your company is linked to. Make sure it is yours.
- Turn on Show Google reviews on my website, choose how many reviews to show, and press Save.
Reviews are off until you switch them on. That is deliberate: we want a person to look at the listing name first, because a business linked to the wrong Google listing would otherwise show somebody else's reviews.
If the listing is wrong, or there is none, open Company settings, choose Edit details, and pick your business on Google there. Then come back to the panel.
If your business serves customers at their location and has no shopfront, Google hides your street address. The panel shows Service-area business instead, which is normal.
What your visitors see
- Your overall Google rating and your total number of Google reviews.
- Up to five reviews, each with the reviewer's name, their star rating, when they wrote it, and their words exactly as they wrote them.
- A link on every review to the original on Google Maps, and a link to your listing.
What we do not do, on purpose
We do not choose which reviews appear. Google shares at most five reviews for a business, and Google decides which five and in what order. We show them in that order. You choose how many of them to show, from one to five. You cannot pick particular reviews.
We do not hide low ratings. If one of the reviews Google sends is a two-star review, it is shown with the others. Showing only the flattering ones would mislead your visitors, so there is no setting for it.
We do not edit reviews. Spelling, wording and length are left exactly as the reviewer wrote them.
It does not help your search ranking. The reviews are loaded in your visitor's browser after the page opens, so search engines do not read them as part of your page, and we do not add review star markup for search results. This feature is there to build trust with the people already on your site. Your ranking on Google Maps comes from your Google Business Profile itself.
How fresh the reviews are
We ask Google for your reviews about once a day, so a new review can take up to a day to appear on your website.
When you change a setting, such as switching reviews off or changing the number, the change can take up to five minutes to reach every visitor.
When the reviews section is missing
Your website shows the reviews section only when there is something good to show. If anything goes wrong, the section is simply left out, and the rest of your page is untouched. You will never see an error message or an empty box on your site.
The section is left out when:
- reviews are switched off, or no Google listing is linked
- your listing has no written reviews yet
- Google did not answer when we asked. It comes back on its own, with nothing for you to do.
- Google no longer recognises the linked listing, which can happen if a listing is moved or merged. The panel says so, and linking your business again in Company settings fixes it.
- your website does not have a domain connected yet. See Connect your own domain.
The panel has a What your website is showing preview, so you can check without opening your site.
Getting more reviews
This feature shows the reviews you already have on Google. To ask happy clients for new ones, see Referrals and reviews.
