Making calls
Turn on browser calling, use the dialer, understand what happens when you call from a phone, and record and transcribe a call with consent.
Calling needs your company phone connected first — see Company phone and SMS.
Turning on browser calling
- Go to Company → Phone.
- Find the Browser calling panel.
- Click Enable browser calling.
Marketli adds a voice key and app to your Twilio account. Nothing else about your account changes. Once on, your team can place calls from Marketli, calls show your company number, and they are billed to your Twilio account.
What a call button does
Every Call button in Marketli follows one rule, and which of the three you get depends on your device:
| Where you are | What happens |
|---|---|
| On a phone | Hands off to your phone's own dialer, or rings you first and bridges the call (below). |
| On desktop, browser calling on | The call is placed in Marketli. |
| On desktop, browser calling off | The number is copied to your clipboard so you can paste it into your phone. |
The dialer
On desktop, the phone icon in the top bar opens the Dialer — it only appears when browser calling is ready. On mobile there is a floating phone button above the bottom navigation.
It has a country-code picker, a number field, a keypad, a contact search (Search contacts, clients, leads…) and a Recent list of your company's recent calls.
Picking a search result or a recent call fills the number in — it does not dial. You still press the call button.
While a call is running, a call bar shows the number, the ringing state and a live timer, with Mute, Keypad for tone entry, and Hang up. It follows you around the app.
Calling from your mobile
On a phone the button reads Call via your phone, and the caption explains it: We ring your phone first, then connect the call on your company number.
What actually happens:
- You tap call and see Calling your phone.
- Your own phone rings. Answer it.
- You hear Connecting your call now.
- Twilio dials the other party, showing your company number as the caller ID.
You talk on your normal handset, but the client sees the business number and the call is logged.
This needs your mobile number on your Profile. Without it you will be prompted to add it.
Recording and transcribing a call
On a lead, next to Call, there is a Record & transcribe button.
It only appears on desktop with browser calling on. It is not available on mobile, and a normal call is never recorded.
- Click Record & transcribe.
- Read the consent dialog: recording a call requires the consent of everyone on it, and the other party will hear a recording notice when they answer.
- Click I have consent — call now.
The recording notice is not optional
The person you are calling always hears "Please be aware, this call is being recorded." There is no setting to turn it off, and recording starts at answer so the notice is inside the recording. Do not use this feature unless you are satisfied you have consent.
Reading the transcript
Transcripts appear on the lead under Call transcripts, with a status of Transcribing…, Ready, Failed or Nothing to transcribe. Long ones collapse behind Show full transcript. The transcript is saved against the lead and is visible to your team.
